The Student planning committee
GINila could not be successful without the wonderful minds behind the envisioning and planning of this conference.
STAFF BIOGRAPHIES
Executive Directors
Hey, My name is Mir Sultan, and I'm 17 years old (18 by the time of GIN)
I have always been a kid who strives to try something new, i’m all about new experiences. I joined GIN because it sounded interesting and it was something I hadn't heard of before.
Instantly, I connected with the the entire concept of GIN, it was easy for me to understand.
It has made me more passionate about Global Issues, which acts as a driving force for me to make this years GINila conference even better than last year. I'm the Co-Executive Director of this year's GINila conference. My job is to keep the wheels turning, but prevent them from squeaking. My job is to act as the glue that keeps our team together.

Hi! My name is Matthew Seet and I’m 16 and currently in 11th Grade serving as one of GINila 2015’s Co-Executive Directors. For me, GINila was a way to provide a service to the less fortunate, while establishing a sustainable platform for students to voice their opinions and debate on action plans for various global issues. With my co-Executive Director Mir, we are responsible for supervising the other committees and making sure that the conference as a whole runs smoothly. We like to think of ourselves as the engine of our group: powerful, dependable and quintessential.
Media Committee
Hey there! My name is Sienna and I’m the GINila 2015 media coordinator. I’m in charge of running all aspects of social media platforms and advertisement which incorporate the basis of a strong network which GINila aims to solidify. I joined GINila because I believe that if people want to make a change in this world, they must start as soon as they become aware of that issue. GINila provides students all the tools they need to make small yet effective changes.
Salutations! I am Angelica Cucueco! A.k.a. part time servant to head honcho of the media team, Sienna Hagedorn, but at the same time a full time optimist and dreamer. As part of the media team, I work in helping to control the GINila social networking accounts and visual tapings of events, and basically to preserve the fun and engaging memories we will all have during the conference! I joined GINila, because I believe it is an exhilarating experience that inspires students to make a change by learning more about real world issues and deliberating on solutions for the future. GIN gives the opportunity of meeting new people and hearing what they have to say, which can open thoughts to the great possibilities of change.
Hi! I am Vandhana Kannan, 15 years old and on the Media Team of the GINila Committee this year. I joined GINila because I thought this would be a great way to do something for the society and give back and contribute to the community. I am very concerned about global issues, and GIN is my way of helping out, first-hand, toward solving them. As a part of the media team, I help edit and manage the GIN website, create and edit the invitations to be sent out to schools and help make promotional videos.
Service Committee
Hello! My name is Anugraha(Anu) Babuji and I am 16 years old. I am currently a Junior (11th Grade) and will soon be moving on to becoming a Senior. Serving to be GINila 2015’s Service Committee Head/Co-ordinator, one of the main reasons I joined GINila was because of the variety of ideas that it helps to gather from students of different schools and backgrounds, that help to tackle the different issues covered by GINila. One other reason why I joined GINila was because of its service component, which I am extremely passionate about, because it helps give support to the less fortunate individuals and because many of the action plans are based off the lives of these individuals. Working with the members of the service team (Umar, Maria, Ranbir, and Romnick), our main responsibility is to assign an appropriate service site to each of the issues covered by GINila, and short-list experts pertaining to each of these issues to give our delegates inspiration, in order to devise effective action plans.
Hi! My name is Umar Maniku, 17 years old, and a member of GINILA 2015’s Service Committee. Together with my colleagues, we plan out the service component and coordinate with GINILA’s service partners in preparation for the conference. All of this is, of course, done to elevate the service experience and to help all of you, the delegates, get the inspiration you may need for your action plans. I joined GIN last year as a delegate and see it as a fantastic opportunity to discuss about the societal impacts of important issues on the world, and ways that we can combat them. I find it fascinating to discuss solutions with like-minded individuals who wish to affect change in society. Thank you for joining us here at GIN and we hope that you will all enjoy the conference!
My name is Ranbir Mahtani and I’m 15 years old.
I joined GINila because I believe that one way to counter global issues is by raising awareness. I’m scared of the effects global issues may bring about in the future, and want to work with others and encourage others to combat them as well.
In GINila I am a part of the service group. I help choose which sites are feasible for the GINila members to go to. I chose this group because I wanted to be involved with the more active global issues prevention actions.

My name is Romnick Blanco, 17 years of age. I decided to join Global Issues Network in Manila (GINila) because I wanted to contribute in solving societal and environmental issues in Metro Manila. GINila has four different committees--Social, Media, Workshops, and Service, and for two years now, I have been working for the service committee and I really love it being part of it. As part of this this committee, I help out in deciding which organisations to partner up with, and finding information, like the address(es), coordinator’s name and contact info etc. for the chosen organisations.
Hi there! My name is Aadi Vijay, I’m 14 years old, and am one of the members of GIN this year! Like others, I’m part of a specific group here at GIN which is labelled the Social Committee. In this position, I work to organise the communal aspects of GIN, including: the schedule, simulation, and speakers. On a personal level, I joined GINila to satisfy my curiosity to initialise global change, help spread awareness of the issues our world faces today, and ultimately; convince others to “be the change they wish to see in the world”.
My name is Maria Hernandez Pinto and I’m 15.
I joined GIN Manila because I am passionate about taking action on the different issues that are affecting the world around us and I think that GINila is the place where I can help to make a difference alongside other people with the same goal.
I’m part of the Service Planning committee. The service committee selects four different service partners for the GINila delegates to visit in the first part of their experience. I wanted to be a part of the GIN planning committee due to the fact that I enjoy service and think that it should be a part of the GINila experience.

Social Committee
My name is Michael Babin. I’m 15 years old, and this is my second year on the GINilla planning committee. I joined GIN because of my passion for working on solving global issues, and my interest in working with others that passion. I’m the Social Director for GINilla 2015, and I lead the Social group in ensure the conference is as efficient, enriching, and memorable (in a good way) as possible.
I’m Yuqian ‘Ina’ Wang and I’m 17 years old.
I joined GINila because I want to help the planet I’m living on in any way I can. And sometimes the best way to do something as big as this is to do it with friends and people who believe in the same thing and have the same goal. And GINila is the place. I am part of the Social committee, which is in charge of the schedule of the event, the simulation, and all the communication with our guest speakers. We also have to make sure that everything go smoothly as planned on the day.

Workshop Committee
Hi, my name is Sofia Contreras and I’m 16 years old.
I joined GINila because I felt the need to educate myself on how I, a student with not a lot of influence on the world, could still impact my direct environment. GINila allows me to raise awareness of important issues to my peers, as well as offers me the platform to come up with ideas to help diminish them.
I am the Director of the Workshops Committee, my job includes recruiting facilitators as well as focusing on how to teach facilitators systems thinking so they can occupy it in the conference.

My name is Claire, I’m 17 years old and I joined GINila because I want to make a difference and help make the Philippines a better place to live in for those who are not as fortunate us. Last year I was a delegate, but this year I’m lucky to be part of the workshop committee. In light of the conference, we are training the facilitators and planning the sessions to make this year’s GINila the best one yet!
Jason Fresnedi.
ASL? 16, Male, Philippines.
I joined GINila last year as part of the Workshops Committee. This year, I’m part of (surprise!) the Workshop Committee. I train facilitators and help others understand the systems we use. While at the conference, you’ll often find me room hopping or eating. In my free time I enjoy basketball and gaming.

Hi My name is Vasudha Maddali and I’m 17 years and a member of GINila 2015’s Workshops Committee. I joined GIN as a delegate last year and enjoyed it so much that I have applied to be a part of the planning committee. Luckily, I have been selected to work in the Workshops Committee. Together with my group mates, we work towards recruiting and training the facilitators on Systems Thinking, which allows us to look at issues holistically. GINila is an enriching experience for me as it allows me to increase my knowledge and awareness about different issues but most importantly GINila is a platform for me to share my insights on different issues.
